The children we support come from deprived backgrounds, from broken homes, huge families or orphanages. They could be solely responsible for running the home, they may have very sick HIV positive parents, their mother could be deceased, their father an alcoholic. Whatever the individual circumstance, our children rarely have a home environment that supports and enables homework. The Homework Club provides that environment. We currently run two clubs one at Khethani and one at Ekukhayeni Orphanage. A teacher is on hand three times a week to help children through their homework, offering support to make the most of their education. We supply both clubs with laptops and programmes to support their learning. We have seen a marked difference in test results of all Homework Club attendees and desperately seek both one-off and monthly donations to ensure we can keep this fantastic resource alive.
